The aim of this project is to increase the fitness and stamina of the participants in the Toolangi Castella District Community House fitness group. Physical fitness is associated with lowered stress levels, improved mood and reduced anxiety leading to improved resilience in both the mental and physical well-being of people. Attendance in the class encourages friendships and support of the participants through the good and the bad times. The sharing of fruit between the attendees at the end of each session, and the accompanying conversations, lead to closer cross community information sharing. One of the benefits of information sharing has been the increased attendance by residents at the Toolangi Community dinners from the nearby area including Kinglake and Glenburn. This project has also increased community volunteer involvement.
